Febuary
– Birdwatching
Lagoons and rivers start to dry up and birds are then easier to observe. Migration increases the number of species present during this period with optimal observation conditions until May. Discover our birdwatching trip at the Elijio Panti reserve.
– Carnival
At San Pedro :
Three days of carnival to celebrate Easter. This annual event begins a little before Ash Wednesday.
At Placencia :
Outdoor music and art festival in which performance and visual artists from all over the country take part.
MARCH
– The Ruta Maya Canoe
A riveting canoe race lasting several days on the Macal and Belize rivers (which were once the only means of communication between the village of San Ignacio and the port of Belize City).
Holy Week at Benque Viejo is a religious custom attracting hundreds of people during the Semana Santa. Celebrations start with a colorful parade during Palm Sunday.
APRIL
– San Pedro Lagoon-Reef Eco-Challenge
This sports event is a kayak race lasting two days (67.5 km) that starts at San Pedro laguna and finishes at Robles Point.
MAY
– Cashew nut festival to Crooked Tree Village
The cashew nut festival, at the heart of the Crooked Tree village, celebrates the harvesting season of cashew nuts. Music, cashew wine, desserts, Caribbean dishes and games are key components.
– National Agricultural
It takes place in the country’s capital, Belmopan, and showcases the country’s produce, rodeo, livestock, craft and music.
– Chocolate festival
This festival is all about local and international wines as well as chocolate-based liquor. This event has numerous activities themed around chocolate.
JUNE
– Crosby Festival of the Arts
The Toledo district located in the South has a great art festival, the Crosby Festival of the Arts. Various ethnic groups showcase their identity and culture through theater plays, music, dance and crafts. Art exhibits also take place, as well as animations for children and adults.
JULY
– Lobster Festival to San Pedro, Placencia & Caye Caulker
A celebration for the opening of lobster fishing season, activities lasting a whole week!
AUGUST
– Costa Maya International Festival
One of the most important festivals in the country takes place in Ambergris Caye. Mayans from all over Central America and Mexico gather here to celebrate their culture.

– Road March Carnival
An annual celebration in the streets of Belize City that highlights the cultural and historical richness of the country.
– Independance Day
The independence of Belize was declared on September 21, 1981. You can attend ceremonies such as flag-raising events, religious services and of course, you can savor Carribean specialties.
