• Day 1 : Immediate boarding for Burrell Boom

When you arrive at Belize City International airport, you will be welcomed by someone from the BELIZEAN TRAVEL team who will give you your guide book. A driver will be waiting for you to drive you to the Lodge.

You will travel 17 km to reach your resort along the Belize river in Burrell Boom where you will be surprised by local nature.

• Day 2 : Observation of the howler monkeys & visit of the ruins of Lamanai 

After breakfast, you will explore the jungle and listen to the howler monkeys. With your local guide, you will approach those animals as closely as possible. Don’t forget to bring your camera.

Lunch break, then your exploration of the archaeological site of Lamanai will resume. You will learn everything about temples and pyramids. It is surrounded by extraordinary nature. We will complete our exploration with a visit of a sugar mill from the 19th century and the discovery of two Catholic churches of the 16th century.

• Day 3 : Visit of the Mayan sites & Mayan experience

After your breakfast, the driver will lead you on the tracks of the Maya in the heart of the jungle. This region offers many vestiges and preserved temples. It is also nature activities: excursions to impressive caves, hiking, wildlife observation (howler monkeys, bird watching).

In the afternoon, the guide will pick you up at your resort to explore the majestic archaeological site of Xunantunich, where from the top of its pyramid you will enjoy a breathtaking view of the jungle.

On the way back, we will invite you to a unique experience; we will meet a peculiar human being that will invite us in the place he lives in. We will learn to know Jorge who could be described as a wise man among wise men; his knowledge of Mayan history, its astronomy and his passion for crafting will make you forget about the struggles of modern life. We will share this serene moment with him by watching the sun set on the nearby hills.

You will take part in the end-of-day activities and discover his work.

• Day 4 : Day trip to the Actun Tunichil Muknal (ATM) caves

After your breakfast, you will leave for the day to the ATM site (Actun Tunichil Muknal). You will have to cross three rivers before you reach the caves. Then you will swim, climb and hike to reach the depths of the underground world, known as Xibalba to the Mayas. This several kilometers-long cave harbors offerings in the shape of potteries and human remains sacrificed to the rain God Chaac in the 9th century. Beware, being in good physical condition is absolutely necessary for this visit. Return around 3 to 4 PM, free time.

• Day 5 : Excursion in the Mountain Pine Ridge natural reserve

After breakfast, you will leave for the Mountain Pine Ridge reserve, with its many waterfalls and natural pools. You will visit the biggest Mayan site in Belize. This immense Mayan city derives its name from the presence of a great number of snail shells on site.  To see absolutely : the Caana pyramid, or “sky palace”, the biggest in the complex. Note: the roads to Caracol can be muddy and hard to drive on during the rainy season.

• Day 6 : Heading to the islands

After your breakfast, you will leave for Belize City (2 hours by the road). You will embark in a watertaxi for Ambergris Caye (‘La Isla Bonita’).

During your trip by boat, you will perhaps be lucky enough to see dolphins and turtles.

• Day 7 : Excursion on the barrier reef : Hol Chan reserve & Shark Ray Alley

In the morning, you will go have a closer look at the barrier reef during a diving session with flippers, mask and snorkel to swim in the middle of a magnificent barrier reef among the turtles, parrot fish and nurse sharks. Located 6 km south of the shores of Ambergris Caye. The most popular area is called Hol Chan or “small channel” in Mayan – a “cut” 10 meters deep in the reef where all sorts of marine life are now gathered in one area, which makes it a giant aquarium. The second most popular area in the reserve is Shark Ray Alley, a less deep area where nurse sharks and pelagic stingrays.

You will have free time in the afternoon to roam the few shopping streets and the market in the city center,or enjoy the quietness of the Resort and the sun near the pool.

At night time, we suggest you taste authentic and traditional Belizean cuisine made out of fresh produce in a casual and welcoming environment. This restaurant is one of the best in the city due to its traditional culinary specialties and its quality service.

• Day 8 : Excursion to the Great Blue Hole

The Must : you must do it absolutely!
After breakfast, you will embark on the diving boat for a trip to the Lighthouse Reef where you will dive in the Great Blue Hole, at Half Moon Wall and the Aquarium.  You will have a lunch break at Half Moon Caye to take in this unusual spectacle and take many photos.

You have chosen the aerial option. You will fly over the island, the coral reef and its multiple azure blue shades, strings of virgin islands, stretches of reefs before reaching the highlight of this flight: The Great Blue Hole! Exceptional underwater world! It is sometimes possible, even from the plane (which does not fly very high) to observe: sharks, manatees, manta rays and dolphins from the air!

• Day 9 : Day at Caye Caulker

Caye Caulker is small in size but great when it comes to landscapes. It has the atmosphere of Jamaica in the middle of colorful lodgings, with island music. It is your program for the day

After crossing the water on board a water taxi, you will step in another world. No cars but golf carts, beaches littered with palm trees, hammocks gently swinging to the breeze, outdoor restaurant where the atmosphere is as rich as the cuisine offered there : everything here is synonymous with GO SLOW, the island’s motto.

• Day 10 : Journey on the Beach to Secret Beach

Then, you can go to the northern part of the island with a golf cart to relax on Secret Beach.

The most “famous” of all secret beaches.

A perfect paradise to relax in; Secret Beach offers a peaceful haven where you will be able to enjoy a quiet day far away from the crowd.

Crystal blue waters and a fine sand beach are on the menu today.

There, you will find : bar-restaurants and many water activities such as : kayak, paddle, canoe, pedal boats and floating mattresses.
