He will share with you his knowledge and expertise on Mayan history and culture, with a particular focus on the Mayan calendar system. You'll begin with a discussion of the fascinating history of the Maya, their way of life, beliefs and cultural achievements. He'll tell you captivating stories about the ancient Maya, explaining their relationship with nature, the importance of the stars and time cycles in their culture, as well as their architectural and artistic heritage. Then it's on to the practical part of the activity. He'll teach you the traditional slate techniques that have been used for generations to create Mayan calendars. He'll show you how to engrave and draw on slate, using the symbols and motifs characteristic of this ancient civilization, giving you a better understanding of their meaning and use.
